• Local Boy Scouts teamed up with FWC staff to plant dozens of native trees on Buckhead Island, a spoil island on Lake Okeechobee. Buckhead Island is one of several manmade islands built from muck scraped up from the lake’s bottom after periods of drought. Once mature, the trees will help enhance habitat for wildlife.<br /><i>(FWC photo)</i>
