Vice Chairman Brian S. Yablonski

Brian S. Yablonski began his five-year term on the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) in January 2004. In 2007, he assumed the post as vice chairman to fill out the unexpired term of the previous vice chairman. His fellow commissioners re-elected him to the vice chairmanship for 2008. He enthusiastically accepted his appointment by Gov. Jeb Bush, saying he looked forward to working with the agency on some of the most important issues facing the state.

"The citizens of Florida have entrusted the FWC to manage their valuable fish and wildlife resources for the long-term benefit of people and the environment,” Yablonski said. “It is important work. I have great respect and appreciation for the job ahead of me."

Yablonski is an avid outdoors enthusiast. The Tallahassee resident particularly enjoys backpacking, mountain biking, kayaking and fishing.

Yablonski works as the vice president of public affairs for the St. Joe Company.  He also serves as an adjunct fellow with the Property and Environment Research Center, of Bozeman, Mont.  The center is the nation’s oldest and largest institute working to use market principles to solve environmental problems.

Yablonski graduated cum laude from Wake Forest University and the University of Miami School of Law.  He served as deputy chief of staff to the governor and as policy director in the Governor’s Office of Policy and Budgeting from 1999-2003.

Yablonski’s five-year term as an FWC commissioner runs through January 2009.
