A number of species management plans have been developed by FWC. These species specific plans provide overarching conservation goals and establish measurable conservation objectives. These plans also layout an implementation strategy for recommended conservation action, while addressing the social and economic impacts of the plan's implementation. FWC is currently working with the idea of developing habitat management plans for selected habitats. These plans will take a proactive approach to habitat management by addressing issues that impact species within a particular habitat while also considering the effects of human activities within the habitat. Habitat management plans will provide a unified framework for dealing with human/wildlife interactions; provide guidance for local and state planning agencies; and provide a comprehensive approach to the management of wildlife. The development and implementation of habitat management plans will require a high degree of partnering with federal, state, and local entities as well as input from a broad array of stakeholders. |
