Bulb must produce the lowest lumens necessary for the needed purpose

Keep it shielded

Bulb must be able to be used in an approved fixture

Keep it long

The mounting: Is it mounted as low as possible?

Fixture Approval Process

To have a fixture or bulb certified as Wildlife Lighting, the manufacturer should submit a sample of the fixture/bulb along with specifications, cutsheet, and an explanation of how the light meets the three criteria above (LOW, SHIELDED, and LONG).

All submitted fixtures must be fitted with a plug that fits into a regular wall socket.  If you are submitting an individual lamp for testing, you must provide a fixture for the lamp to be tested in that is fitted with a plug that fits into a regular wall socket.

Submittals should be mailed to the following address:

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission
Imperiled Species Management Section - Sea Turtle Subsection
Koger Center
1320 Executive Drive
Atkins Building - Suite 101
Tallahassee, FL 32301
Phone: (850) 922-4330
Fax: (850) 921-6988

In order to display the Wildlife Lighting logo on the cutsheet and webpage, the cutsheet and webpage must only contain the special options (ie., shielding and lamping options) that meet the Wildlife Lighting criteria.
