IT’S TIME TO BECOME AN OUTDOORS WOMAN

Attention women interested in learning outdoor skills! It’s time once again to register for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s (FWC) Becoming An Outdoors-Woman (BOW) program scheduled for March 6-9 in West Palm Beach, and March 27-29 in Ocala. Registration forms are available right now by calling the FWC’s Ocala Regional Office at (352) 732-1225.

This very popular weekend program has been offered by the FWC for the past several years at its youth conservation camps in the Ocala National Forest and in the Everglades. The cost is $100 for the whole program, including lodging and meals, and applicants will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis.

Registrants choose four, 4-hour sessions in which to participate from a variety of outdoor-related topics including panfishing, deer hunting, camping/backpacking, canoeing, boating basics, bird watching, personal safety, outdoor survival skills, and more! In addition, there are a variety of evening programs that provide fun and camaraderie for all.

"BOW has been one of our most popular programs, with many repeat participants," said Lt. Joy M. Hill, FWC’s public information coordinator for the Central Region. "Typically women will come to one program and have so much fun, they will return for more. Another plus is that they make lots of new friends who have similar interests."
