LITTLE RED WATER LAKE BOAT RAMP CLOSED FOR RENOVATION

SEBRING SHORES - Anglers and boaters who use the public boat ramp at Little Red Water Lake can soon look forward to a brand new lakeside facility. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) has scheduled the boat ramp at Little Red Water Lake for a major face lift. The public access ramp will be closed for about a month starting the first week in February. The FWC has built more than 200 public boat ramps throughout the state including eight in Highlands County. Boat ramps are routinely scheduled by the FWC for maintenance or replacement.

"Fishermen and boaters help fund boat ramps and many of the other resource management projects through their purchase of state fishing licenses," said FWC Regional Fisheries Biologist Tom Champeau. These state-generated dollars are matched with federal dollars generated by the Federal Sport Fish Restoration Act. Federal dollars originate through an excise tax on fishing tackle and boating-related purchases.

For more information on public access fishing, call the FWC's Division of Freshwater Fisheries at (941) 648-3202.
