CHATTAHOOCHEE WHITE BASS TOURNAMENT CANCELED; KIDS’ FISHING ACTIVITIES GO ON AS PLANNED

Due to flood conditions, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s 18th annual white bass tournament scheduled for this weekend on the Apalachicola River near Chattahoochee has been canceled. However, the kids fishing activities at the Booster Club Landing on Lake Seminole on Saturday will go on as planned.

Charlie Mesing, FWC fisheries biologist and Apalachicola River Project Leader, says the kids fishing activities are for young people 16 and younger. The sessions for kids will be 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. (EST).

The FWC will provide rods-and-reels and the necessary equipment for the sessions. Kids, some of whom may never have had the opportunity to handle fishing gear, will learn how to cast, tie knots and rig a reel for fishing. All participants will be allowed to fish at the site.

Chattahoochee resident Marty Butler has worked with FWC personnel and says every kid who participates will receive a prize.

The Booster Club Landing is at Chattahoochee Park on Lake Seminole.
