Hunter safety course offered in Washington County

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is offering a free three-day hunter safety course in Washington County.

The course will be at the Wausau Town Hall, 1607 Second St., in Wausau. Instruction will take place 6-9 p.m. June 29 and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 30. The firing-range section of the course is scheduled for July 1.

Individuals who have taken the Internet course and wish to complete the classroom portion of the course must bring the online completion report and attend only the June 29 class from 6-10 p.m. and complete the range portion July 1.

Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Students are encouraged to bring a pencil and paper with them to take notes.

The hunter safety course is required for anyone born on or after June 1, 1975 to purchase a hunting license. The FWC course satisfies hunter safety training requirements for all other states and Canadian provinces.
