Daily dove hunt permits go on sale Sept. 17 September 6, 2007 Contact: Office of Licensing and Permitting (850) 488-3641 Daily dove hunt permits go on sale at 10 a.m. EDT Sept. 17 for special-opportunity dove fields throughout the state, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) announced today. Worksheets are available from FWC regional offices and in the Licenses & Permits section of MyFWC.com. Sportsmen may apply for these permits at www.wildlifelicense.com, by calling 1-888-HUNT-FLORIDA (486-8356), at county tax collectors' offices or licensed agents. The cost for the permit is $35, which entitles one adult and one youth (under age 16) to hunt together, but allows only one daily bag limit of birds to be harvested between them. Permits are available for the following special-opportunity public dove fields: Allapattah Flats (Martin County - 25 permits) Bass Farms (Alachua County - 13 permits) Bennett Farms (Baker County - 15 permits) Caravelle Ranch (Putnam County - 40 permits) Frog Pond (Dade County - 37 permits) Fussell Farm (Polk County - 12 permits) Hilochee (Lake County - 15 permits) Schneider Farms (Escambia County - 15 permits)
Sportsmen also have the option of buying a $10 Youth Permit at the same time a Dove Hunt Permit is purchased. This entitles the youth (under age 16), while hunting under the supervision of the adult permit holder, to harvest his or her own daily bag limit of birds. "These special-opportunity dove fields are planted and managed by the FWC and offer great hunting opportunities in a friendly, social atmosphere that provides the perfect setting for friends and family, including youngsters, to hunt together,? said Kurt Hodges, FWC?s small-game biologist.
