Hickory Mound Impoundment WMA

Hickory Mound WMA is a 14,427-acre wildlife management area (WMA) located in Taylor County, approximately 20 miles west of Perry, FL. This area includes a brackish impoundment that is accessible to duck hunters by foot (wading) or small boat (electric motors only). Depending on the status of wigeon grass in the impoundment, hunters may encounter a variety of ducks at Hickory Mound, ranging from teal to diving ducks. Hunting is administered by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission (FWC) through the Big Bend Field office. This WMA has specific regulations and is open to hunting only on certain days: refer to the area brochure for details. Contact the Big Bend Field Office for current information (850-838-9016).
