Welcome to Florida's Waterfowl Web Site, created and maintained by the Waterfowl Management Program (WMP) of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC). Here you can learn about Florida's wetlands, resident waterfowl species, and migratory waterfowl that spend only a portion of the year in Florida's vast wetlands. Please use the navigation bar on the right to explore our site.

Because of failures in the Total Licensing System (TLS), FWC staff have concluded that the risk of future failures has increased to unacceptable levels.  As a result, FWC staff will be recommending a change at the February Commission meeting.   The recommendation will be to change all of the hunts where permits are issued first-come, first-served (FCFS) to a random drawing.  If approved, this change would occur in 2010 for all FCFS hunt types other than Recreational Use Permits. For more information you can preview the material that will be presented to the FWC Commissioners in February.

ATTENTION DUCK HUNTERS!

The University of Georgia (UGA) and the Georgia Division of Public Health are asking waterfowl hunters to complete a 5-10 minute survey about their hunting practices along with some questions about bird flu. UGA and the Georgia Division of Public Health hope to learn more about how often people may be exposed to infected waterfowl and their contaminated environments.

This survey is completely anonymous and includes general questions about where you hunt, what you do with your harvested birds and a few questions about bird flu. The survey does NOT collect any identifying information, such as name, phone number, or address, and your survey responses will help researchers, planners and stakeholders respond to potential avian influenza (bird flu) outbreaks worldwide.

Thank you for your time. Your help with this important research is appreciated!
