Richard A. "Dick" Corbett has served on the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission since then-Gov. Jeb Bush appointed him to a 5-year term in February 2003. In January 2008 then-Gov. Charlie Crist reappointed him. His fellow Commissioners elected him to serve as Vice Chairman for 2010 and re-elected him for 2011. The real estate investor traces his interest in fish and wildlife conservation back to when he was an 8-year-old hunting and fishing in upstate New York.
Corbett and his wife, Cornelia, co-manage the 16,000-acre Pinckney Hill Plantation in Monticello. The North Florida plantation has been family-owned for nearly 80 years and is managed for the conservation of fish and wildlife.
The Tampa resident graduated as president of his class at Notre Dame in 1960 with a bachelor's degree in English and history. In 1964, he earned a master's degree in business administration from Harvard Business School.
Corbett advocates conserving and Florida's woodlands and its fish and wildlife resources for future generations to enjoy. He enjoys hunting, fishing, diving, skiing and golf.
Corbett's current term expires in January 2013.
