Registration
Joe Budd Aquatic Education Center offers a summer camp program
for students age nine to fifteen that are interested in
fishing. Fish Camp provides valuable information regarding
fish and their habitat, teaches various fishing techniques, and
cultivates a new crop of responsible anglers. All aspects of
fishing are covered, ranging from fish identification and fish
biology to boat navigation and angling techniques. Campers
leave Fish Camp with an appreciation for the sport of fishing, as
well as the knowledge required for ethical angling.
Fish Camp also introduces participants to the field of fisheries
biology and current Fisheries projects. Fisheries biologists
visit to discuss the goal of the Division of Fisheries and the
methods and equipment used to perform project duties. Campers
conduct scientific procedures involving fish and fish habitat and
participate in fish sampling demonstrations. Fish Camp is
culminated by a Friday Fish Fry demonstrating each camper's ability
to catch, clean and cook various species of fish.
Camp Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30
am - 4:30 pm. Campers may be dropped off as early as
8:00 am and must be picked up by 5:00 pm.
Fee: $190.00

Campers are provided with all gear necessary for fishing.
Each child is given his/her own rod and reel and tackle box full of
tackle to be used during camp week. At the close of
Fish Camp, campers take their fishing equipment home to use for
future fishing. Our goal is to have each child leave camp
equipped to fish, with both the knowledge and the gear.
Campers need to come dressed for the weather. We are outdoors
each day and camps run rain or shine.
Items to bring daily:
- Sunscreen
- Hat and sunglasses
- Insect repellent
- Bottled water
- Snacks (Fishing makes you hungry!!)
- Old shoes that can get wet and muddy
- Bag lunch with drinks for Monday through Thursday
Friday's lunch is "prepared" by Fish Camp participants.
They catch the fish, clean the fish, and help cook the fish.
Parents and siblings are encouraged to join us for lunch and
afternoon events that showcase the talents of our new skilled
anglers.
Registration begins March 5, 2012. Campers will be
officially registered when completed application and fee is
submitted. No applicants will be accepted before March
5th.
