Alligator
Management Program Update Report
The Florida Fish and Wildlife
Conservation Commission has embarked on a comprehensive review of
alligator management in the state, and we look forward to having
you play a large role in that process. The initial step in this
review process was to initiate an online survey to help guide
stakeholder input relative to an established set of goals
and objectives that Commission staff believes is
important regarding the alligator resource. The online survey ran
from September 19 through the 29. Special thanks to those who took
time out of their busy schedules to provide us value input through
this online questionnaire. A survey
summary document is available for your review (note:
this file is large and may take time
to
download).
Here’s quick overview of the numbers and types of
stakeholders responding:

FWC staff has summarized and
evaluated the input and have drafted some proposed
ideas
for consideration. These ideas were presented to the Commission at their December 2006 meeting, at
which time they provided staff with positive feedback regarding
the review process and directed staff to hold a series of public meetings
garner additional feedback and input. The schedule
and details of these meetings are now available. We look
forward to working closely with you throughout this process.
