Youth Waterfowl Permit

General Information

A Youth Waterfowl Permit is a type of limited entry permit that is required in order for youth under age 16 to participate in some designated youth only waterfowl hunts on select Waterfowl Management Areas.   • Cost: $0.00. Youth Waterfowl permits issued in the Phase I are posted to your customer account online and can be printed from the web site for no cost. The service of printing the permit issued in Phase I or reprints at a Tax Collector or retail agent location will cost $2.00 or $2.50 respectively.
  • Requirements: You must be less than 16 years old for the duration of the hunt in order to apply. There is no minimum age. Permit is not valid unless the youth is accompanied by an adult supervisor that is at least 18 years old.
  • Issuance Method: Youth Waterfowl permits are issued by random drawing during Phases I. Leftover permits are issued on a first-come, first-served basis during Phase II.
  • Exemptions: There are no exemptions; you must be issued a Youth Waterfowl permit or be the supervisor of a permit holder to participate in theses hunts. Adult supervisors with required license and permits for taking waterfowl or otherwise exempt from license and permit requirements, may participate in the hunt, but shall not take waterfowl with a gun.  Adult supervisors without license and permits for taking waterfowl may not assist in the attempt to take (no calling, no building blinds, no setting decoys, etc).
  • Restrictions: You may submit one Youth Waterfowl application and receive one Youth Waterfowl permit in Phase I. You may receive up to two Youth Waterfowl permits total in Phase II (including any permits awarded in Phase I). You can have no more than one Youth Waterfowl permit per hunt, and no more than two Youth Waterfowl permits total. The selling or purchasing of any quota permit is prohibited.
  • Group Applications: Group applications are NOT allowed for this permit type.
  • Preference Points: There are no preference points for this permit type.
  • Transferability: Youth Waterfowl permits are NOT transferable.
  • Guest Permits: Guest permits are NOT available for this permit type; however, each T.M. Goodwin or Broadmoor permit allows up to four youth hunters and four non-hunting supervisors, each STA permit allows up to two youth hunters and two non-hunting supervisors, and each Ocklawaha Prairie permit allows up to three youth hunters and one non-hunting supervisor. Adult supervisors with required license and permits for taking waterfowl or otherwise exempt from license and permit requirements, may participate in the hunt, but shall not take waterfowl with a gun.  Adult supervisors without license and permits for taking waterfowl may not assist in the attempt to take (no calling, no building blinds, no setting decoys, etc).
  • Drawing Results: Drawing results are typically posted within about two weeks after the end of the application period. If you are successful in the Phase I drawing, and you have provided a valid, non blocked, email address, your permit will be emailed to you as well as posted to your record online.
  • Reprints: You can reprint lost or destroyed non-transferable permits online at no cost or at a license agent or tax collector office for about $2.50.
  • How to Apply: You can apply online External Website (sign on and choose “Apply for Limited Entry/Quota Permit”) or complete the Application Worksheet (click "Application Worksheet" at bottom of page) and present it to any license agent or tax collector office.External Website Children who do not hold a Florida drivers license or Florida ID must apply as non-residents to use the online system. Applying online as a non-resident will have no effect on the application in the drawing or future license purchases.
  • How to Get Your Permit: If successful in the Phase I random drawing, you can print your permit online External Website at no cost or at a license agent or tax collector office for $2.50 or $2.00 respectively. Permits issued in Phase I will be available in the system for printing online, by a license agent or tax collector until the last day of the hunt. In Phase II (First-Come, First-Served Leftovers) you are immediately awarded your permit, and the license agent or tax collector will immediately print your permit one time for no cost. If applying online in Phase II, you can immediately print your permit. The permit will remain available online until the last day of the hunt. If you are successful in a drawing and you have provided a valid, non blocked, email address, your permit will be emailed to you as well as posted to your record online.
