The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation
Commission (FWC) will conduct a public hearing next month to
announce the proposed management plan for the L. Kirk Edwards
Wildlife and Environmental Area (WEA) in Leon County.
Required by Florida Statute 259.032 (10)(b), the
hearing is scheduled for 7 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, at the
University of Florida's Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences
Extension Office, 615 Paul Russell Road in Tallahassee.
The purpose of this hearing is to receive public
comment regarding the development of the FWC's 10-year management
plan for the 1,712-acre L. Kirk Edwards WEA. The meeting will
start with a presentation about components of the draft management
plan, followed by a question-and-answer session and public
testimony.
A management prospectus for the L. Kirk Edwards WEA
is available upon request from the FWC's Conservation Acquisition
