The Florida
Division of Forestry will reopen Jennings State Forest, in Clay
County, to public access on Oct. 16.
Because the area will be reopened, the supervised
small game season on Jennings Forest Wildlife Management Area,
scheduled to begin Oct. 16, will occur as planned. The small game
season runs from Oct. 16 through 24.
In addition, the bird dog training season will be
open. Bird dogs can be trained on the Normandy Unit of the forest
on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays from October through
January.
The Division of Forestry closed the area Oct. 14
for public safety reasons while several law enforcement agencies
searched for a fugitive in that area. That situation has been
resolved.
