The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation
Commission (FWC) is sponsoring a bowhunting class for serious
archers.
The class will be Oct. 2 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at
the Hard Labor Creek Plantation, 1963 Hard Labor Road in
Chipley.
"The purpose of this class is to provide advanced
instruction to the bowhunter on such topics as the fundamentals of
bowhunting, safety, hunting techniques, stalking, trailing and
sportsmanship," said George Warthen, regional hunter safety
coordinator.
"Also, even though it is not required in Florida,
completion of a bowhunting class is required in at least 14 other
states before a hunter can purchase a bowhunting license," Warthen
said.
Participants should dress for hunting and bring
their own archery equipment, including bows and arrows (field
points or target points), a lawn chair, pen or pencil and a packed
lunch.
People interested in attending this course can
register online and obtain information about future bowhunting
classes at MyFWC.com/HunterSafety or by calling the FWC's regional
office in Panama City at 850-265-3676.
