Homosassa man killed in boating accident

A Homosassa man was killed in a boating accident Sunday
afternoon on the Homosassa River, according to Florida Fish and
Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) officials.
Robert Wade Phillips (DOB 10/06/62) was operating a 39-foot
pleasure craft, traveling up the river with nine passengers on
board.
While traveling near channel marker 19, Phillips veered outside
of the channel, FWC investigators said. During an evasive maneuver
to return to the channel, the vessel capsized and ejected all
occupants.
The passengers were taken to the River Haven Marina by other
boaters and were met by Citrus County emergency personnel. The nine
passengers were transported to local hospitals with
non-life-threatening injuries, but Phillips was killed.

- Roberta G. Anderson, DOB 05/05/62, Homosassa
- Payton Anderson Valls, DOB 04/21/91, Homosassa
- Samautha Pauley, DOB 05/03/95, Beverly Hills
- Reid Paul Callahan, DOB 05/22/64, Homosassa
- Delaney Jean Owens, DOB 10/16/95, Homosassa
- Lester Kemp, DOB 11/11/53, Homosassa
Robert Wade Phillips' body was transported to the District 5
Medical Examiner's Office.
The accident is still under investigation, FWC investigators
said.
