FWC provides update on management of Florida’s nonnative species

The agency has focused its efforts on high-priority invasive species such as Burmese pythons, lionfish and Argentine black and white tegus.  

FWC receives $25,000 in donations for new 2018 tagged-lionfish removal incentive program

At the Dec. 5 Commission meeting, the FWC gratefully acknowledged $25,000 in charitable donations from six generous sponsors. These funds will be used as cash prizes for a new and novel lionfish removal incentive program.

Five species of sea turtles swim in Florida waters and nest on our beaches. All are classified as either threatened or endangered and are protected under state and federal laws.
