FWC plans to improve navigation on Lake Harris

The FWC will offer a free Kids’ Fishing Clinic for children between the ages of 5 and 15 from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 7, at Linda Pedersen Park, 6300 Shoal Line Blvd., Spring Hill. 

FWC, University of Florida invite public to meeting on Lake Istokpoga habitat management plan

New Critical Wildlife Area in-water markers to be installed in Lee County

The FWC will soon be installing in-water markers around five new Critical Wildlife Areas in Lee County: Hemp Key CWA; Broken Islands CWA; Matanzas Pass Island CWA; Big Carlos Pass CWA; and Coconut Point East CWA. 

FWC holds public meetings on proposed conservation measures, permitting guidelines for burrowing owls

FWC staff will briefly present the protections that apply to burrowing owls, the draft Conservation Measures and Permitting Guidelines, and anticipated next steps for this species.  

Free Kids’ Fishing Clinic in Sarasota promises day of learning, fun

The FWC will offer a free Kids’ Fishing Clinic for children between the ages of 5 and 15 from 9 a.m. to noon on Nov. 18, at Ken Thompson Park, 1700 Ken Thompson Parkway. 

FWC conducts Lake Istokpoga plant treatment

October 16, 2017 

The FWC plans to conduct aquatic plant treatments via helicopter on Lake Istokpoga on Tuesday, Oct. 17. The treatment areas will include shallow water marshes on Bumblebee Island and Big Island.
