FWC requests assistance in identifying person who injured a hunter on Chipola River WMA

On the morning of Dec. 29, 2017, an incident occurred on the Chipola River WMA near Waddell Mill Creek and Bump Nose Road in Jackson County, which resulted in Brendan Dew (DOB 10/1/1996), of Marianna, being struck in the leg by a single projectile.

Everglades-area WMAs open to public

The FWC). has rescinded executive orders that established special restrictions on portions of the Everglades and Francis S. Taylor and Holey Land Wildlife Management Areas. Rotenberger WMA will remain closed because of continued high-water levels.

FWC Commissioners elect new chairman, vice chairman

At its meeting Dec. 7 in Gainesville, the Florida FWC elected Bo Rivard, of Panama City, to serve as chairman and Robert Spottswood, of Key West, as vice chairman.  

FWC appoints Eric Sutton as executive director

The FWC Commission voted to appoint Eric Sutton, assistant executive director, to the position of executive director, effective Dec. 8. Nick Wiley, current executive director, retires later this month.
