When to Visit

On Apalachicola River Wildlife and Environmental Area there are always opportunities for outdoor recreation. Fishing can be excellent throughout the year. Paddling can also be done year-round but the best times are generally the fall and spring when temperatures are pleasant and bugs are few. Birding opportunities are also at their peak during the fall and spring. Hunting opportunities vary with Archery Season beginning in October through Spring Turkey Season ending in April.

Fox, Raccoon, Opossum and Bobcat Season: Allowed year-round except the use of
free-running dogs is prohibited during spring turkey season (March 21 - April 26). This
year-round season is not depicted on hunting calendar.

Archery Season: October 18 through November 16

Small Game Season: November 8 through March 1

Muzzleloading Gun Season: November 21 - 23

General Gun Season: November 27 - 30 and December 13 through February 4

Trapping Season: December 1 through March 1

Archery/Muzzleloading Gun Season: February 19 through March 1

Spring Turkey Season: March 21 through April 26
