Fees

A Daily-Use Permit is not currently required to enter this area. A free visitor pass is given out at the check station to non-hunters using the area during public hunts (except small game season). Hunters will need a Wildlife Management Area Permit and a quota hunt permit. To fish, you must possess the appropriate license and permit

Facilities

A check station is manned during deer, turkey and hog hunts.

Public Access

When the area is open to hunting, vehicles may be operated only on named or numbered roads. When the area is closed to hunting, vehicle access is prohibited. The WMA is open year-round to walk-in access by hikers and cyclists and to equestrians during non-hunting seasons. Vehicle use regulations.

Location

Box-R WMA is located in Franklin County, approximately 5.5 miles west of downtown Apalachicola. The entrance is off of U.S. Highway 98. From downtown Apalachicola, go west on U.S. Highway 98 for approximately 5.5 miles. Entrance is on the right.
