Recreation (updated yearly)

Recreational hiking/nature study/environmental education allowed by appointment with the FWC office in Lakeland (863-648-3205). These uses are restricted to designated nature trails, boardwalks and observation decks and are not permitted during nesting season of wading birds. The wood storks lay eggs from March to late May, with fledging occurring in July and August.
