About this Press Kit
Welcome to the online press kit for MarineQuest 2018. This kit is designed to provide all the details you will need to cover the FWC Fish and Wildlife Research Institute's (FWRI) 24th annual open house. New information will be added as it becomes available. This article also includes pictures and video highlights from previous MarineQuest events. For additional information, please contact Michelle Kerr at (727) 896-8626.

About MarineQuest
In 1995, the first MarineQuest open house was held. The event was created to inform the public about the research performed at the institute and to introduce the community to the world of marine science. The next year, MarineQuest expanded, and a second day was added to provide local schools and students an opportunity to visit the institute.

In the years that followed, MarineQuest evolved into a three-day event that welcomes thousands: more than 16,000 people attended last year. MarineQuest has also grown to include exhibits about wildlife and freshwater fish. School Daze, a special version of MarineQuest available to 4th through 8th grade students by registration only, is held on the Thursday and Friday before the public open house. Students who visit School Daze get a guided tour through a sampling of MarineQuest stations. At each station, FWC staff lead activities and provide hands-on demonstrations to explain their research projects to the students. Then on Saturday, the public is invited to enjoy MarineQuest and learn about Florida’s fish and wildlife and their habitats.
