Manatee carcasses

Manatee carcasses from around the state are collected, examined, and compared to animals known through photo-identification. Decomposition of the carcass can affect a researcher's ability to match a carcass to a known animal. The image on the left of FM333 was taken in 2003. The image of FM333's carcass on the necropsy (animal autopsy) table was taken in 2006.
