Fauna

Fauna of interest are coquina clams (Donax spp.) and mole crabs (Emerita talpoida). Both species are common filter feeders found in the swash zone and prey to many beach dwelling organisms and seabirds.

Shrimping is done at night because at least two of the principal shrimp species harvested in Florida, the pink shrimp and the brown shrimp, are nocturnal.
