Green Turtle covered in oil

This is a juvenile green turtle that was affected by the 1993 oil spill in Tampa Bay. After a thorough cleaning and some rehabilitation time at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium this turtle was able to be released into the wild.

Seagrasses occupy only 0.1 percent of the sea floor, yet are responsible for 12 percent of the organic carbon buried in the ocean, which helps reduce atmospheric carbon dioxide.
