SEA TURTLES AND LIGHTS WORD FIND ANSWERS

Loggerhead, green, and leatherback sea turtles nest on the coasts of Florida. When the hatchling sea turtles come out of the nest during the nighttime they find the water by crawling to the brightest area, on natural beaches this is the light from the night sky reflecting off the ocean. In areas where there are many artificial lights, the hatchlings disorient inland. They often die from dehydration, or are eaten by ghost crabs, fire ants, or birds. To help the sea turtles humans can reduce light pollution by turning off unnecessary lights, shielding lights, and allowing dune vegetation such as sea grapes to grow and block the light.
