Florida's Nonnative Wildlife. Species detail.

Six released on Buck Island Breeding Ranch in Highlands County in 1967 or 1968. The herd increased to less than 30 animals. In 1993, 10 animals were seen in the area, and small numbers have been sighted subsequently in the same area.

FWC Facts:
The Florida scrub-jay is a 12-inch-long, blue-and-gray, crestless jay. It lacks the white wing spots and tail feather tips of the more common and widespread blue jay.
